The Power of Not Knowing December 12, 2006

The Pitch:

Do you often feel uncomfortable when you are confronted with questions to which you have no answer? Have you ever felt stupid when your friends are discussing intensely a subject of which you have no knowledge? Are you embarrassed to say “I don’t know?”

The Possibility:

The reality is that there are many things in life that we do not and even cannot know, and there are many things we may have no interest in finding out in the first place. We are only wallowing in ignorance when we are ashamed for not knowing, or when we cling desperately to the concept of knowing.

Not knowing something, and openly admitting it, can be a very empowering action. Through admission, we can step past a blockage and open up to a learning opportunity. Each one of us is at a glorious gate of discovery, soon to learn what lies beyond our current field of knowledge and perception, but we must let go of the self-centered desire to be right. On the other hand, when we resolutely claim knowledge of something that we really don’t know, we restrict possibility, limit growth and shut out learning. We even run the risk of appearing foolish when a knowing attitude is exposed as ignorance.

A person who can admit to not knowing tends to be more emotionally confident than someone who pretends to know everything. They also tend to be more comfortable with who they are.

Personal Believe:

There is wisdom in not knowing, and it is a wise person who can say, “I don’t know.”

Honoring Life Changes November 30, 2006

Filed under: Ancient Wisdom, Chakra, Spirituality/Self-Awareness, new age, spirituality, yoga — Aphinya Deley @ 11:59 pm

The Pitch:

When our life has been shift from one stage to others like getting married, having a baby, or changing careers all of these life changes most of the time bring up the feeling of fear. It will throw us off balance, make us feel uncertain and insecure, and we just can’t be peace with ourselves anymore.

The Possibility:

It helps if we can remember that life changing is valuable. It is the time to pay a good attention on yourself that you really want the new life these changes will bring.

Moreover, the purpose of the feeling of fear in this particular situation is to notify us that we are at the edge of our comfort zone, balanced in between the old life and a fresh one.  Whenever we face our fear, we overcome an inner obstacle and move into new and life-enhancing territory, both inside and out. The more we learn to respect and welcome fear, the more we will be able to touch and trust our inner wisdom.

Personal Practice:
You might wish to converse with your fear, plumbing its depths for a greater understanding of the change you are making. You could do this by sitting quietly in meditation and listening or by journaling. Writing down whatever comes up, your worries, your sadness, your excitement, your hopes, is a great technique to learn about yourself through the vehicle of fear and to remember that fear almost always comes alongside anything worth doing in your life.

Going Through The Darkness November 4, 2006

The Pitch:
Sometimes we may wonder why we still face constrictive conflicts of all kinds — financial, emotional, physical — when we are working continuously to improve our spiritual connection and do good for the world. Perhaps we even feel as if we’ve lost our spirituality, stuck in a square room with no windows and no way out. Confusion and discouragement easily arise from what appears to be a lack of progress.

When things feel tight, it is easy to panic and spin our wheels mentally in an effort to find out why things are the way they are. We feel an urge to reject the feeling of constriction, to deny its place in the body and mind.

The Possibility:
Acceptance is the key to appreciation for the way things work. There is nothing we need to do at this time other than to be patient and perservering. We need to be aware that we are shifting from one stage of consciousness to another, and the more we surrender to the experience, the more quickly and easily we will move through the tightness. Indeed, surrender is the only possibility that leads to a fast transition since rejection and denial merely create more conflict.

If we trust the universe, we can find peace within ourselves when we endure the contractions. We can look to the natural world for inspiration as we see that all beings surrender to the process of birth.

Like a caterpillar that confines itself to a tiny cocoon before it grows wings and flies, we are experiencing the darkness before the dawn.

Trusting Your Power October 26, 2006

The Pitch:

The decisions we make define our lives each day. When we choose one option over another, whether we are going to a restaurant or cooking at home, we form our lives.

The decision-making process can be empowering, allowing us to enjoy the benefits of freewill. It can also be a source of nervousness because we have to face the possibility of dissatisfaction and unhappiness.

Many of us avoid decision making by allowing our partners, families, friends, and colleagues to make decisions for us, incrementally giving control of our lives away.

The Possibility:

Even though the decisions we need to make are often difficult, we grow more self-sufficient and secure each time we trust ourselves enough to choose.

When we feel unable to make a decision, our inner wisdom and our intuitive mind can give us sound guidance if we have faith in ourselves.

Release the fear of wrong decisions before making them. Surrendering to mistakes will lead us down wonderful and unexpected paths that expose us to life-changing insights.

Personal Believe:

Ultimately, only we know what our options are (we are with ourselves 24/7) before we will impact our daily life and our long-term well-being.

The Magic Powers of Gemstones, October 19, 2006

Jyotish is the ancient Vedic astrological system, notes that gems are related to the various planets and produce a balancing effect to counter specific diseases. It is a primary method of a Jyotish astrologer’s therapeutic measures to heal physical, mental, and spiritual situations. It is known that planets produce effects on humans. For example, the full moon not only causes high tides, but also affects the emotions of some people. The gemstones were studied and used to neutralize these effects.

The ancient Ayurvedic researchers studied healing properties of gems, and found that different stones created different effects in the human body. The planets were seen to have corresponding colors. The color or vibration of the gems affects the human body. They absorb and reflect (like a filter) the planetary rays or vibrations.

The planetary vibrations are negative, while the radiation of the stones is positive. When the positive and negative vibrations are combined, they are neutralized. Just as an umbrella or sunscreen protects one from the sun, so gems protect one from the influence of the planets.
